根据德国民间诗史《尼白龙根之歌》和北欧《沃尔松格传说》改编。铁匠齐格弗里德（班诺·福曼 Benno Fürmann 饰）在一次陨石坠落后与冰岛女王伯伦希尔（克里斯蒂娜·里奇 Christina Ricci 饰）不打不相识，灵妖并且陷入爱河。之后他杀死了作恶巨龙，灵妖并用龙血沐浴让自己刀 枪不入。可后背上一块树叶覆盖的地方没有沾到龙血成为了他的弱点。齐格弗里德因杀死巨龙而被国王赏识，要将自己的公主妹妹艾丽西亚·维特 Alicia Witt 饰）嫁给他，但格弗里德已心有所属。为了达到目的国王在酒中加了药使他忘记女王爱上了公主。国王请他帮忙冰岛女王伯伦希尔，于是他戴上变形头盔，装成过国王的样子打败了伯伦希尔。伯伦希尔被他的“背叛”伤透了心，被迫嫁给国王。各怀心事的两对新人在同一天结婚。齐格弗里德最终会想起女王吗？四人将对面如何的命运呢？
