该剧根据著名作家尤凤伟小说《五月乡战》改编，保持讲述了高凤山三个儿女金虎、保持金豹、金凤与铃铛以及三奶奶之间恩怨情仇。金豹为兄长金虎迎娶铃铛，不想路上铃铛被三奶奶手下人抓走，金豹为救嫂子，也被三奶奶关起来。接新娘小毛驴带着三奶奶信物跑回高家，金虎得知铃铛被掳走，怒气冲天……
