数十年来经营床上用品店铺的寺岛吉太郎（柄本明 饰），国产在新世纪中不得不面临大卖场廉价商品的强烈冲击。店铺举步维艰，国产他对周遭的一切也感到厌倦。这天，一名女子不期走入寺岛的店铺，让这个颇有些死气沉沉的老年人眼前一亮。对方名叫杉田理惠子（尾野真千子 饰），是某酒店理发馆的职员。她绰约典雅，美而不俗。从第一眼看到她，吉太郎便被对方深深迷住。在此之后，吉太郎登门拜访，大献殷勤，当得知理惠子希望早日开一家属于自己的理发店时，他不惜拿出全部积蓄只为换得美人一笑。体力不支而家底渐罄，吉太郎直觉感到对方离开自己的日子越来越近，而在此期间，理惠子重逢儿时的青梅竹马川添直树（小泽征悦 饰），他们彼此心中藏着一个不能说出的秘密……本片根据松本清张的原作改编。

Shatter soon finds out that everyone wants him dead, including the crime syndicate, the cops and the brother of the African leader he killed.
