故事发生在明神宗万历年间，阁楼河北农妇意娘（金贞娥 饰）嫁给了侯二，阁楼给他生了两个大胖小子。然而侯二自幼便身体孱弱，久卧病榻，一家人的重担都落在了意娘的肩上，无奈之下，意娘只得应朝廷之征，来到宫中成为太孙的乳娘。曹二嫂（张京花 饰）是宫中负责挑选乳娘的人选，他被意娘的美貌深深的吸引，处处帮助照拂，在曹二嫂的大力举荐之下，意娘很快就出人头地，甚至令皇太后（胡锦 饰）也十分满意。曹二嫂更将自己哺乳的一套独门秘籍传授给了意娘，令意娘在宫中的风头无人能及。二意娘和曹二嫂之间也发生了种种香艳情事。
